Hey Folks,
I’m back with another edition of Life Ingredients, the newsletter where we nourish the body and mind with exercise, healthy food, and positive thoughts. I write this newsletter because I want you to look after every aspect of your physical and mental health and create a life you love.
We’re going to kick things off as we always do, with a good hard workout.
Now let’s get to work!

At the top of this newsletter, we start at the bottom. That is, the glutes. You’ve got that right, this month’s workout is glute-centric. Why? Well, there’s more to a well-developed backside than the ability to get yourself a lot of attention on Instagram. Healthy glutes are foundational to whole body health. How? The glutes are essentially the power centers of the legs; a strong set makes you more athletic, improves posture and balance, and makes you less likely to experience hip, knee, and back injuries.
So, how best to work em? I’ll let my trainer Steve Wrona take it from here. |

Grilling season is a special time of the year, and in my house I like to start it off with a bang. That’s where this coffee-rubbed cowboy ribeye comes in. For me, it’s the best cut there is, and the rub I give here adds big bold flavor. Now, is the cowboy ribeye a pricey cut? Sure is, but one steak also serves two people. That said, you can be even more budget conscious by using the same rub on a less expensive cut like sirloin. Just be aware that the leaner you go, the temperature you’re cooking becomes even more important. For example, a well-marbled ribeye or NY strip will maintain tenderness even if you go well-done. That’s not so for a London broil, which can turn into shoe leather if you’re not careful.

GRILLED COFFEE RUBBED COWBOY RIBYE
SERVES 4 – Cut or double recipe.
YOU’LL NEED
2 Cowboy ribeye steaks 24 oz each (bone in, meat and fat trimmed from the “handle”)
½ cup fresh ground coffee
2 tbsp kosher salt
3 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp ground black pepper
MAKE IT
1) Mix the ground coffee, salt, brown sugar and pepper together in a mixing bowl.
2) Generously rub both sides and the edges of the steaks with the coffee rub mixture.
3) Allow the coffee-rubbed steaks to sit out at room temperature for 10 minutes to bring the steaks up to temp and then place them on the pre-heated grill. |
MAKE IT CONTINUED… (medium-high heat). 4) Grill the steaks for 5 to 7 minutes on each side until the internal temperature is 130 degrees F for medium-rare to medium. 5) Allow the cooked steaks to rest for 5 minutes before slicing. 6) Cut the meat from the bone, slice the steak and serve. Each steak will serve 2 people. |

Memorial Day has come and gone, but the feelings it stirred within me remain. I’m British by birth, American by choice. I feel an eternal debt to this nation, especially to the brave American service members who made the ultimate sacrifice to secure the freedoms I enjoy every day.
The motivational piece of this comes from this fact: the magnitude of the gift of freedom that we have is enormous. If you take the time to really feel what this means—that someone else gave their life so that you can have everything that you have—then freedom becomes more than a gift. It comes with certain obligations. For me, that means that I mustn’t waste one day of that freedom. I must always do my best to make the absolute most of the opportunities that I have. |
With Memorial Day in our rearview but still in our hearts, I hope you can do the same. Every day you have a chance to make your little corner of this country better for your countrymen. Whatever your profession, do it so well that it could inspire others around you to also give their best. Be the best neighbor, friend, and civilian you can be. If we all think locally, the impact is ultimately global.
In short, the men and women we honor on Memorial Day died with the dream of making this world a better place. We owe it to them to try to see that dream through.
It’s a tall order. Then again, there’s a reason I live by these words:
NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE.
Until next time.

EXCITING NEWS!!!
ROBERT IRVINE FOUNDATION IS A GOLD WINNER WITH THE TELLY AWARDS!
The Army Benevolent Fund’s Cateran YOMP is an event I care deeply about. It’s a grueling hike through the foothills of Scotland’s Cairngorm Mountains, where veterans and service members from around the world push themselves to complete 22, 36, or 54 miles in just 24 hours.
Last year, the Robert Irvine Foundation sponsored 25 U.S. veterans to take on this challenge – and this year, we’re proud to be sending 65!
But this is more than just a hike. It’s life-changing. Along the way, deep bonds are formed. Healing begins. Resilience is reignited. We were fortunate to have Helm Creative Studios join us last year to capture these powerful moments—and their work just earned…
A GOLD WITH THE TELLY AWARDS!
Watch this award-winning video to see why the Cateran YOMP means so much to me – and why I look forward to it every year. |

THE YOMP FUNDRAISING CHALLENGE
LAUNCHES NEXT WEEK!
Next week, I’ll be back in Scotland with our incredible group of sponsored U.S. veterans for the Cateran YOMP – and I CAN’T WAIT! While this year’s event takes place June 7–8, we’re already planning ahead and fundraising for our 2026 participants.
To kick things off, I’m inviting you to join our second annual YOMP FITNESS CHALLENGE—a powerful way to show your support and get involved.
Inspired by the Cateran YOMP, you’ll have the entire month of June to complete your goal: 22, 36, 54, or even 100 miles. Unlike the veterans hiking in Scotland who must complete their miles in just 24 hours, you can go at your own pace.
Go solo, build a team with your friends, family, or fellow service members—or if you’d prefer, focus solely on fundraising. Set a goal, share the mission, and help us send more heroes to experience this life-changing journey.
Remember, Memorial Day may be behind us, but the meaning stays with us. This is your chance to honor our veterans and service members – and to make a real difference.
Are you in? |
