This year has been full of impact. We reconnected veterans through our Reuniting the Brave program, served thousands of our nation’s heroes delicious meals at our Breaking Bread With Heroes events, brought a piece of home to military bases all over the world, and much more. We thought you might enjoy hearing a few program highlights, stories from lives you’ve helped, and updates we are excited to share. The Robert Irvine Foundation is grateful to be on this journey of growth together.

In June, the Robert Irvine Foundation joined the Allied Forces Foundation for the Scotland Cateran Yomp. Yomp is a British term for long-distance hiking. With Robert Irvine leading the way, we had 25 participants on our team made up of veterans, Board Members, and Ambassadors.

It was a transformative experience for the participants. Veterans from all over the world are asked to complete 22, 36.5, or 54 miles. It offers a type of challenge that many veterans have not experienced since combat. Deep bonds are formed and confidence is regained during this intense experience.

“Have you ever tried to take your own life? It’s not easy. You have to let go of everything and accept death. I couldn’t see the future. I could only see what was going on in front of me, and the events the lead up to me wanting to take my life. I had to accept fate, that everyone’s life was going to be fine without me. This event (the YOMP) was something I didn’t know I needed, but it came at the right time. This has been life-changing. If I had died in that garage with the car on, none of this would have happened. These new experiences, it’s like breaking a bone – they say it grows back stronger.”

Our 5th Annual Charity Heroes Golf Tournament was a complete success. Not only did we raise money for our mission, but we also hosted over 50 veterans to have a fun day golf. During the lunch reception, the Robert Irvine Foundation announced that we are giving a deserving hero, Mike Shannon his own IBOT.

With the help of our partners Paws4People, we also surprised everyone by inviting Lindsay and her service dog ACE onto the stage for ACE’s official graduation of training. The Robert Irvine Foundation is proud to provide such a special person like Lindsey with her service dog ACE. They are truly the perfect match.

U.S. Air Force Lindsay Mulford was diagnosed with PTS because of a sexual assault and from previous abusive relationship.

“I want to thank everyone that supports the Robert Irvine Foundation. My life has completely changed. I’m not the person I was, six months ago… I wouldn’t have been in a room full of people much less on this stage. This event has made me feel like I’m apart of something again. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much.”

Everything we do is to help improve the mental and physical wellbeing of our nation’s heroes and their loved ones. Showing appreciation by making a delicious meal and taking time to visit with our service members is very import to the Robert Irvine Foundation and to Robert Irvine.

“The purpose of breaking bread is to remember we’re all united, that we have each other’s back. No one should be left alone, no one should be hungry…Breaking bread with some one is extremely important because it gives each other an opportunity to bond….Food brings people together. It can strengthen relationships in a fascinating way. You can be sharing a meal with some one and then go into a deep conversation… It’s super inspirational that Robert came out here to do this for us. It means a lot.”
