Hey Folks,
Welcome to another edition of Life Ingredients, the newsletter where I share a workout, a healthy recipe, and a piece of motivational advice. This month my trainer Steve Wrona is here to kick things off with a special TRX workout he designed just for my readers. Now let’s get to work! |

The TRX Training motto is: “Fitness Anywhere” because the TRX suspension trainer could be hooked up to a tree branch, a door frame, or just about any other sturdy, elevated fixture in no time, and ready for you to work out with nothing more than the TRX strap handles and your own bodyweight. It’s a nifty idea, and one with a lot of cache in my book as it was invented by a former Navy SEAL, Randy Hetrick.
But if the words “suspension trainer” spooked you a bit and made you wary of giving it a try, hang in for just a minute. My trainer, Steve Wrona is going to walk you through this month’s workout and show you just how simple and effective TRX training can be. |

Ah, that glorious day after Thanksgiving. No need to get out of your pajamas. No need to meal plan. Just look in your fridge and explore the seemingly endless bounty of leftovers. Make yourself a plate, plop down on the couch, and maybe do some Black Friday shopping from your phone. It’s a pretty scene if I do say so myself, but I know all but the most die-hard turkey enthusiasts will be bored to tears by the holiday weekend.
Friends, this is where I come in. Last year I shared with you my Turkey Pot Pie recipe, and if that sounds like an enticing way to repackage your leftovers, I say head right over HERE. But this year, I’m sprucing up those leftovers in a totally new way, adding gruyere cheese, hot sauce, and diced bacon to make the most out-of-this-world open faced turkey sandwich you’ve ever had in your life. Don’t take my word for it. Tasting is believing. |

There’s an old adage that a wise man must employ “an attitude of gratitude” to keep a good moral standing in this life. After all, if you woke up today, had enough to eat, and are in good health, those are things to be deeply thankful for. No need to wait until tragedy or sickness to appreciate the basics you’ve already got, after all.
While that’s a fine philosophical and moral position to espouse, I’ve come to believe that being thankful has an even greater power; it’s the key to unlocking a universe of abundance that I believe remains closed to people who do not appreciate what they already have. This is where it gets a bit tricky, I suppose, because I can’t technically explain it. It’s not like a recipe where I can tell you why you need to make the food a certain way. All I have is my own life experience. So, this Thanksgiving, I want you to trust me here. I’m not selling you a bill of goods. I don’t get a commission from Big Thankful if I get you to embrace the attitude of gratitude. All I can tell you is that during the moments of my life when I got so wrapped up in where I was trying to get to next and failed to appreciate all that I had going for me… my world got claustrophobic and suddenly those big plans ground to a halt and I couldn’t take the next step. On the other hand, when I found myself on fire for what I was doing, truly present, and wanting for absolutely nothing more… That’s when opportunity would always come knocking. It’s got to be genuine gratitude, of course. You can’t just mutter “I am thankful” and grit your teeth and hope some magic happens. It doesn’t work that way. Why? Well, it’s logic. Think of the vibes you give off when all you do is “want” something else versus when you’re thankful and content. Doesn’t it make more sense? Dating is sort of the perfect metaphor. Isn’t it always the case that you meet “the one” when you’re just doing your thing and not looking to meet someone? And isn’t it exceedingly rare to meet that special someone when you’re out on the prowl? That’s because the vibration, the energy you give off, affects everything around you. The universe, for whatever reason, seems to be very good at giving you more of what dominates your thoughts. And if your thoughts fixate upon gratitude, it’s going to find a way to give you more things to be grateful for. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. Remember the mantra: NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE. |
